I, being a committed stakeholder in India’s road safety ecosystem, pledge to advance the safety, dignity, and rights of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) — including pedestrians, cyclists, children, elderly persons, and powered two-wheeler riders — through targeted and sustainable action.

In alignment with national priorities and the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030, I commit to the following actions within my sphere of influence:

*Promote inclusive road safety policies that prioritize the protection of VRUs in planning, legislation, and enforcement. *Support the design and development of forgiving roads — including pedestrian walkways, cycle tracks, school zones, and traffic-calming features. *Advocate for and ensure compliance with standardized helmet use, speed limits, and other protective laws that directly impact VRU safety. *Encourage data-driven decisions by supporting improved crash reporting, analysis, and transparent data systems. *Enhance public awareness through campaigns that foster respect, empathy, and responsible behavior among all road users. *Promote education and training programs for drivers, enforcement officers, and urban planners that include a focus on VRUs. *Foster partnerships across government, industry, academia, and civil society to create a united front for road safety. *Advance safety technology integration, such as AI-based enforcement, VRU detection, and smart traffic systems. *Support higher safety standards in vehicle design, helmets, and road equipment relevant to VRU protection. *Allocate resources — including time, funding, and personnel — to implement VRU-focused safety initiatives within my organization or institution.
