About Us
The National Summit on Vulnerable Road Users and Road Safety will convene leading experts, policymakers, and stakeholders on 12th June 2025 at Novotel City Centre, New Delhi, India. This pivotal gathering will spotlight the urgent need to protect India’s most at-risk road users — including pedestrians, powered two-wheeler riders, and children — who make up the majority of lives lost on our roads each year. With India accounting for one of the highest numbers of road fatalities globally, this summit aims to forge practical, inclusive strategies that reduce these preventable deaths and injuries. By bringing together voices from government bodies, law enforcement, urban planning, transport agencies, vehicle manufacturers, civil society, and road users themselves, the event will chart a course toward safer streets for all. Key areas of focus will include infrastructure that prioritizes non-motorized transport, stronger enforcement of road safety laws, inclusive design principles, data-driven interventions, and public awareness campaigns that empower communities.
Critical Statistics:
India faces a profound road safety crisis, with vulnerable road users — including pedestrians, children, and two-wheeler riders — comprising the majority of road traffic fatalities. This summit marks a pivotal turning point in the nation's commitment to safeguarding these at-risk groups and redefining public safety on our roads. It will bring together key stakeholders to collaboratively shape a safer, more inclusive mobility landscape for all.
Continuing The Marrakech Declaration:
At the 4th Ministerial Conference on Road Safety held in Marrakech, Morocco, global leaders reaffirmed the urgent need to safeguard vulnerable road users — including pedestrians, cyclists, children, and two-wheeler riders — who bear the brunt of road traffic fatalities, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The Marrakech Declaration emphasized critical interventions such as standardized protective gear, safe vehicle design, inclusive infrastructure, and strong enforcement as essential to reversing current trends. Helmet safety, safe road design, and the implementation of advanced safety features were underscored as vital components in reducing road trauma. As a signatory to the Declaration, India is committed to translating these global resolutions into national action. This Summit builds on that commitment by convening key stakeholders to chart a comprehensive and equitable roadmap for protecting vulnerable road users and transforming India’s road safety landscape.
